The rose accord is built around the rose — Damask, centifolia, Bulgarian, rose from Grasse — and its “helpers”: rosy geranium, rose oxide, rose water. Rose is one of the most precious raw materials: a kilogram of oil takes tonnes of petals picked by hand at dawn.
It can be very different: fresh and dewy with citrus, honeyed and winey with spices, dark and velvety with oud and patchouli. That is why the rose accord has long stopped being “feminine” — in niche perfumery it is one of the most versatile heroes.
