Born in Istanbul, where he spent his early childhood, he later moved to Athens. His love of fragrance began at his father's factory, which made flavour and fragrance compounds: he did an internship there every summer. At 18 he moved to France to study at the ISIPCA school, then interned at Créations Aromatiques in Paris, and in 1986 became the first perfumer trainee taken on by Firmenich. He lived for ten years between Paris and Geneva and for 25 years in New York, returning to Paris in 2019. His works include Gucci by Gucci, Givenchy Pour Homme and Vera Wang Princess.

Ermenidis is a perfumer of two worlds: East and West, Istanbul and New York. His fragrances unite warm, spicy oriental sensuality with elegant Western restraint. His compositions are smooth, noble and impeccably balanced — luxury that does not shout but quietly persuades.
