A variant of «Artemisia»
Wormwood: the same plant, the most bitter and herbal
More about «Artemisia» →Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) is exactly the plant perfumers most often mean by the “artemisia” note. Its silvery-grey leaves and flowering tops are distilled to give an oil with a sharp, bitter scent.
It sounds bitter, herbal and cool: dry herbs, a light camphoraceousness, a faintly anise-like, liqueur shade. Wormwood adds an “absinthe” mystery and a fresh bitterness to a fragrance.
