“White flowers” is a general name for a bouquet of lush, strongly scented white flowers: jasmine, tuberose, orange blossom, gardenia, ylang-ylang. The perfumer combines them into one luxurious accord.
How it smells: lush, creamy and heady: honeyed flowers, a slightly fruity and animalic (indolic) depth, warm sweetness. White flowers sound luxurious, sensual and very feminine.
Many white flowers smell strongest in the evening and at night — they attract night-flying moths as pollinators. That is why white-floral fragrances are often associated with evenings, warmth and celebration.
What it pairs with: with vanilla and sandalwood — warm creamy sensuality, with coconut — tropical compositions, with citrus — a fresh floral opening, with musk — clean skin scents, with oud — oriental luxury.
Good to know: most white flowers contain indole — a substance that smells unpleasant on its own but gives a floral bouquet that living sensuality.
