Large-flowered: the classic jasmine of perfumery, more graceful than sambac
More about «Jasmine» →Jasmine grandiflorum (Jasminum grandiflorum, large-flowered) is the jasmine grown in Grasse, Egypt and India that perfumers consider the classic. Its five-petalled white flowers with a pinkish underside are picked by hand at dawn, when the scent is strongest.
It sounds graceful and bright: honeyed white flowers, a light fruity shade, a tea-like transparency and a delicate, “living” indole. Unlike the lusher, sweeter sambac, grandiflorum is more elegant — it became the voice of many legendary floral fragrances.
