Thierry Wasser

Names: Thierry Wasser (English, French) · Тьєррі Вассер (Ukrainian) · Тьерри Вассер (Russian)
Born: 1961, Switzerland
Specialization: master perfumer of the house Guerlain (since 2008) — the first from outside the Guerlain family; Knight of the Legion of Honour (2014)

He grew up in the Swiss countryside near Montreux. From 16 to 20 he studied botany and earned a federal diploma, after which he was accepted into the famous Givaudan perfumery school in Geneva. He worked at Givaudan in Paris and from 1993 at Firmenich, where he created Addict for Dior and Hypnose for Lancôme. In 2008 he took charge of creation at Guerlain and became the guardian of its legends — Shalimar, Mitsouko, Jicky, L'Heure Bleue — while also creating new ones: La Petite Robe Noire, L'Homme Idéal, Mon Guerlain.

Wasser is a traveller who goes to suppliers himself for raw materials: vanilla, iris, rose, bergamot. His fragrances are the modern language of classic Guerlain: sensual and warm, with the signature powdery softness and unexpected playful accents. He knows how to make a fragrance that sounds both elegant and humanly warm.
