Olivier Cresp

Names: Olivier Cresp (English, French) · Олів'є Кресп (Ukrainian) · Оливье Кресп (Russian)
Born: 1955, Grasse, France
Specialization: master perfumer at dsm-firmenich (with the company since 1992, master perfumer since 2006); author of fragrances for Goldfield & Banks Australia and Parfums de Marly; Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France (2012)
He comes from an old Grasse family that has lived there since the seventeenth century: his great-grandfather grew roses and jasmine, his grandfather traded in natural raw materials, his sister Françoise Caron is also a perfumer, as is his son Sébastien. He studied raw materials and flavours in the USA, then worked at De Laire and Quest, and in 1992 joined Firmenich. Together with Yves de Chiris he created Angel for Thierry Mugler — a fragrance that changed the perfume industry; he also created Light Blue for Dolce & Gabbana, Nina for Nina Ricci and Lacoste Pour Femme. He also works for niche houses, in particular Goldfield & Banks and Parfums de Marly.
Cresp is a master of unexpected combinations that become classics. He boldly mixes sweet and fresh, gourmand and woody — and gets fragrances recognisable from the first breath. From the revolutionary gourmand Angel to the transparent Mediterranean freshness of Light Blue, his compositions are always bright, generous and very wearable.
