Jérôme Epinette

Names: Jérôme Epinette (English, French) · Жером Епінетт (Ukrainian) · Жером Эпинетт (Russian)
Born: Burgundy, France
Specialization: perfumer at Robertet (New York); author of fragrances for Björk & Berries, Amouage, Byredo, Atelier Cologne, Frapin
He grew up in Burgundy — the famous wine region — and from childhood was fascinated by the complexity of winemaking. He earned a master's degree in biochemistry in Dijon and then studied at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. In 2003 he joined Robertet's Paris office, and in 2006 became one of the founders of the company's creative centre in New York, where he still lives and works. He has won Fragrance Foundation awards — for Café Tuberosa for Atelier Cologne (2018) and Tobacco Mandarin for Byredo (2021).
Epinette is an aesthete of silence and nuance. His fragrances are built from a few perfectly matched materials and sound clean, with Scandinavian restraint, yet with a warm, living heart. He knows how to present a familiar scent — wood, tea, a flower — as if you were smelling it for the first time.
