Born in Kassel, he studied perfumery at Haarmann & Reimer (now Symrise). Later he became an independent perfumer in Berlin and created fragrances for Ormonde Jayne, Diesel and other brands. In 2006 he founded Escentric Molecules and released Molecule 01 — a fragrance made of a single molecule, Iso E Super, which changed the idea of what perfume can be. He also works at the intersection of perfumery and art: in 2017 he received the Sadakichi Award for experimental work with scent in the Osmodrama project.
Schön is a minimalist perfumer and an explorer. He proves that one molecule can be a whole fragrance: warm, velvety, merging with the skin and sounding different on everyone. His compositions are clean, modern and very personal — “your scent, only better”.
