His fragrances are born of childhood memories divided between the gentle nature of his mother, wrapped in exotic perfumes, and the strong character of his grandmother, who liked everything to be in its place. Every morning his mother would throw on a leather coat, kiss him and hurry off to work — and her perfume mingled with the enchanting smell of soft leather. In 2011 David Jourquin founded his own house in Paris and released Cuir Mandarine first; what mattered most to him was to show “being” rather than “seeming”.
Leather is the common denominator of all Jourquin's fragrances: it is present in every composition. He pairs it with citrus, spices, flowers and tobacco, and each time the leather sounds new — now soft and tender, now bold and daring. His perfumes are warm, sensual and very personal, like the memory of the person closest to you.
