Arnaud Poulain

Names: Arnaud Poulain (English, French) · Арно Пулен (Ukrainian, Russian)
Born: 1986, Arras, France
Specialization: perfumer, founder and creative director of Les Eaux Primordiales
He grew up in the countryside in a family of craftsmen: his father was a metalworker, his uncle a carpenter, his grandparents farmers; from them he inherited a respect for work and craftsmanship. As a teenager he was keen on science and studied mechanical engineering, but in 2007 he fell in love with perfume “at first breath” and began learning the craft in Lens. The perfumer Amélie Bourgeois became his mentor, who still helps him with the technical development of his fragrances. In 2015 he founded Les Eaux Primordiales — the name is taken from Jules Verne's novel “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea”.
Poulain is half engineer, half perfumer, and it shows: his fragrances unite the precision of science with emotion. He boldly breaks the usual rules — “supermassive” ambers, unusual contrasts, striking modern molecules — and creates perfumes that sound like a discovery. Energetic, curious, full of character.
