Alberto Morillas

Names: Alberto Morillas (English, French) · Альберто Морільяс (Ukrainian) · Альберто Морильяс (Russian)
Born: 1950, Seville, Spain
Specialization: master perfumer at Firmenich (since 1970), founder of the Mizensir label; author of fragrances for Véronique Gabai and Initio Parfums Privés

Born in Seville, he moved to Switzerland at the age of 10, where he studied art for two years at the Geneva School of Fine Arts. At 20 he joined Firmenich — and has worked there for more than half a century, creating around 7,000 fragrances. His first success was Must de Cartier (1975), followed by legends of the 1990s and 2000s: CK One (1994), Acqua di Giò for Giorgio Armani (1996), Flower by Kenzo (2000), Daisy for Marc Jacobs, Bloom for Gucci. In 1997, together with his wife Claudine, he founded his own label Mizensir; in 2003 he received the François Coty Prize.

Morillas is a master of light and cleanness. His signature is transparent, “fresh laundry” accords, white flowers and soft musk that sound light yet are remarkably long-lasting. To a great extent it was he who defined what freshness smells like for a whole generation. Even in his warmest compositions there is always a breath of air.
