The story of the Frapin house is a majestic saga dating back to 1270 in the Grande Champagne region, where the Frapin family grew grapes for centuries and made the finest cognac in the world. The decision to enter the world of fine perfumery was a natural extension of its philosophy: distilling and ageing noble spirits and creating fragrances share the same DNA. David Frossard became creative director of the perfume line, who skilfully translated the family's rich heritage into the language of scent.
To create its masterpieces the brand invites star perfumers of our time — Sidonie Lancesseur, Bertrand Duchaufour, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato and Jérôme Epinette.
Their formulas bring to life rare and precious ingredients that recreate the atmosphere of old cellars: oak wood, spices, dried fruit and, of course, accords of aged cognac. The flagship fragrance “1270” became an olfactory ode to the family's history, combining notes of candied fruit, nuts, cocoa and honey and recalling the most exquisite vintage spirit.
The aesthetics of Frapin bottles emphasise the nobility of their origin: caps of natural beech, turned by hand by craftsmen, refer to the oak casks in which the “water of life” matures. Each fragrance is a story dedicated to outstanding people or events connected with the family — for example “L'Humaniste”, honouring the famous ancestor François Rabelais, or “The Orchid Man”, inspired by the intellectual boxer Georges Carpentier.
P. Frapin & Cie is perfumery for hedonists who know how to enjoy life unhurriedly, savouring every moment like a sip of fine cognac.
